Community Standards

circaVie is a celebration of the times of our lives, and since families are an important part of our lives, circaVie is a family-friendly environment. As a result, since all timelines are public in our beta release, we ask that all publicly posted timeline events adhere to this family-friendly standard.

Regarding the visual content of your publicly posted photos and videos, please refrain from publishing: nudity and/or sexual acts, violence, illegal activities and advertising for sale of prohibited items such as alcohol, firearms, tobacco, and adult products/services. Remember, you shouldn’t upload content that is not your own or for which you have not been granted rights, especially in the case of copyrighted content. In addition to uploading your personal video and photos, you can also embed viral video and photos from other sites such as YouTube and flickr, and we simply ask that you please don’t link to any video or photos which would violate any of the above standards.

Regarding spoken and written content, in addition to the abovementioned standards, please refrain from excessive vulgarities. We ask that you please keep your language no stronger than would receive a “PG-13” rating. Refrain also from using any language that is harassing, threatening, or violent in nature, including defamatory remarks of a slanderous or libelous nature, and hate speech of any kind.

Please refrain from sharing private information, such as home addresses, phone numbers, or email addresses in any of your content.

Timelines and/or individual events breaking these rules are subject to removal from the site, and all users have the ability to report a timeline or event as containing inappropriate content for our review. Upon review, timelines deemed to be in need of modification will be suspended. At this point, suspended timelines will be invisible to all users other than their creator (as if they were private), and the creator will receive notification from the circaVie team that modifications need to be made to their timeline in order to be resurfaced on the site proper. Reported timelines including depictions of illegal acts will automatically be removed from the site. Repeat offenders who abuse our community standards are subject to account suspension.

You’ll probably have noticed that the above rules pertain specifically to your publicly posted events. For events that you’ve marked private (i.e., visible only to you, and not by other circaVie users), that’s your domain so long as it is legal. Just make sure that if something should be marked private that it IS marked private.

But that’s enough about what you can’t do on circaVie. After all, there’s just too much great stuff you can do with circaVie to continue dwelling on the downers … so go ahead, jump in and start time-lining!
