circaVie is a place to collect your memories and share your life in a new way…chronologically. Tell your life story or the story of your latest roadtrip, a day to remember, or a month around the world. Any time, any picture, video, or special occasion – mark it here and share it everywhere.
Why do I Sometimes Lose Events I Just Created?
Users will sometimes have problems immediately after adding or editing an event that includes a photo upload. The photo upload will work fine, but the next event created may incorrectly overwrite the previous one, erasing that event from the timeline. When this cycle repeats, many consecutive event adds may be lost. To prevent this from occurring, simply refresh the timeline using the browser refresh button immediately after adding or editing an event that includes a photo upload. Our apologies for this inconvenience. A fix is in play.

Does circaVie Cost Money?
Nope, it is completely free to join the circaVie community.
How Do I Get a circaVie Account?
Go to the circaVie site, and click on the “Sign In” link in the upper right hand corner.
There are two ways to sign in. If you have an AIM or AOL screen name, you can simply sign in using your existing account. You don’t have to have an AIM or AOL screen name to participate though—you can sign in using an Open ID. If you don’t have an Open ID, you will have to create one to sign in initially. An Open ID will allow you to piggy-back your information from an identity provider. For example, if you have an AOL or AIM screen name, you’d enter http://openid.aol.com/YOURSCREENNAME (replace YOURSCREENAME with your actual screen name). circaVie would then redirect you to your provider so that you can define what information you want to carry over.
How Do I Log In?
Using an existing AIM or AOL screen name, the login process and password is the same as your login to AIM/AOL. For OpenID logins, once you’ve entered your ID, you will be redirected to your information provider. Just sign in there and you’re in.
How Do I Find a Timeline?
Use the Search box to locate a tagged timeline. It can be found on the upper right hand corner of any page within circaVie.
How Do I Make a New Timeline?
Click the “Start a Timeline” link at the top right corner of any page.
How Do I Add an Event to a Timeline?
To add an event, fill out the form on the right side of the page entitled “Add An Event.” You must make a title for your event, and enter the month, date, and year of when it happened. If you want, you can also enter a short description of the event and create tags.
You can also add photos by entering the URL of a photo, or directly upload photos from your computer. You can also add a slide show or a YouTube video about your event.
After you’ve entered everything you want about your event, hit the “Save” button at the bottom of the form, and your event will appear on your timeline!
How Do I Add Video to a Timeline?
To add video, enter a valid YouTube URL in the “Link to” box. You can find this box in the “Add An Event” form on the right of the page.
How Do I View an Event in a Timeline?
Just click on an event and the event box will appear. If there is an event photo, you can see an enlarged version of it, as well any descriptions of the event.
How Do I Post a Comment on An Event?
Click the event on which you want to comment. When the event box pops up, click on the orange “Post a Comment” link on the right. A new page will come up where you can enter a comment of up to 512 characters before clicking on “Comment” to add your post.
How Do I Edit My Comment?
First, go to the event comment page (see “How Do I Post a Comment on An Event?” on how to get there). Click on the blue “edit” link on the right side of the comment you want to edit. After making your edits, click “Save.”
How Do I Delete A Comment?
First, go to the event comment page (see “How Do I Post a Comment on An Event?” on how to get there). Click on the blue “delete” link on the right side of the comment you want to delete. When the pop-up asks, “Are you sure?,” click the “Yes” button.
How Do I Edit an Event in My Timeline?
Click on the event you want to edit. When the event’s screen pops up, hit the green “edit” link on the top of the box. The event’s details will come up in the “Add An Event” form and you can make any changes you want.
How Do I Delete an Event in My Timeline?
When you click on the event you want to delete, and event’s screen will pop up. Click on the green “delete” link at the top of the event box. When asked, “Delete this event?” click yes.
How Do I Change the Color of a Timeline?
You can change the color of your timeline by clicking on the orange “Style Options” tab next to the form on the right side of the “Start a Timeline” page.
How Do I Make a Timeline Private?
Timelines can’t be made private, but events within timelines can. To do this, just check the “make this event private” box at the bottom of the “Edit Event” field on the right-hand side of the timeline creation page.
Who can View an Event I’ve Marked Private?
For our beta release, only the creator of the timeline can view private events.
What Are Tags?
Tags are words that describe your timeline’s events. You can enter them when you add events, in the “Tags” box. They are used to locate your timeline later, and are accessible in the search feature to find other timelines. You can add or view your timeline’s tags on the left, below your timeline.
How Do I Embed This Timeline in My Other Personal Sites?
Click on the “Embed this timeline” link right below the timeline on the left. Copy and paste the code that appears into your blog, MySpace, or any other personal site.
How Do I Share My Timeline Using AIM?
To share your timeline using your AIM page, click on the “Add to AIM Share” link below the timeline, and circaVie will directly take you to the AIM Share website with the link and title already filled in. Type in a description, and click “Share” to have a direct link from on your AIM Page to your circaVie timeline.
What Is My Profile and How Do I Edit It?
A blank profile will be assigned to you when you sign in. To edit it, click the “Profile” link below your user name. Then click on the “Edit Profile” link next to the header, “You!”
You will be assigned a user number to start. You can go into Edit Profile to assign a nickname, a profile URL and provide information about yourself, including a buddy icon and biographical data.
Can I Post Anything I Want?
Yes, provided your events and timelines follow our Community Standards. If a particular event isn’t one you’d like the whole world to see, we encourage you to mark that event as private.
Will My Timelines Be Edited or Censored?
The only editing or censoring that may take place will be as mentioned in the Community Standards:
Timelines and/or individual events breaking these rules are subject to removal from the site, and all users have the ability to report a timeline or event as containing inappropriate content for our review. Upon review, timelines deemed to be in need of modification will be suspended. At this point, suspended timelines will be invisible to all users other than their creator (as if they were private), and the creator will receive notification from the circaVie team that modifications need to be made to their timeline in order to be resurfaced on the site proper. Reported timelines including depictions of illegal acts will automatically be removed from the site. Repeat offenders who abuse our community standards are subject to account suspension.

circaVie is driven by the members of the community. If you see an offensive timeline, click the “Report timeline” link in the bottom left corner below it. Fill out the box that opens with what’s wrong with it and click “Submit Report” to bring your concerns to our attention.
